Free From Cheese Crackers

I was craving crackers and jam so went ahead and picked up these Free From Cheese Crackers at Asda, not realising that they were cheese flavoured crackers rather than crackers for cheese!!

No I didn't look at the ingredient!

Anyway, when you open up the box you wil find two foil packets

Which is good as it helps to keep them fresh.

There is a good amount within each pack

However due to the size if each crackers it is very easy to sit and eat them like you would a packet of crisps. Which I did!!

The are very moreish and also quite salty, so definitely would be best to pair it with some cheese, chutney, grapes etc.

With every cracker I needed a sip of my drink, but I just couldn't stop eating them until I realised I had eaten the whole thing!

Now with me being lactose intolerant it probably wasn't a good idea for me to even try these but thankfully my symptoms were not to major afterwards. However I definitely will not be eating the second pack just because I don't want to cause myself any problems.

But if you are able to tolerate dairy then definitely give them a try!

COYO - Coconut Milk Yoghurt - Raw Chocolate

There is so much hype surrounding coyo at the moment that i thought I would definitely have to try it in order to find out what all the hype was about.  I did my research and was desperately seeking shops which stocked coyo.

I had been meaning to go in to Wholefoods for a while as I knew that would be the only place to stock coyo in my area and I was right.  I found all of the flavours but finally opted for the raw chocolate flavour hoping that it would be a bit more decadent than the others.

The price took me by surprise because the tub was so small, but i thought "what the hell" and went ahead to the till.  Surprisingly enough I managed to have this small tub in my fridge for a week before I finally decided to try it - I don't know how I managed to resist considering I had been waiting so long to try it.

So on Friday night I went ahead and opened up the tub, it looked appealing and I noticed that there were little chocolate pieces as well - all looked good.

The consistency when I put my spoon in was nice and thick and I suddenly thought "this is not something that I will devour, I will savour it"

However upon tasting it I was disappointed, it was bitter and flavourless, ok yes I did choose raw chocolate, but I thought there would have been a bit of a chocolatey taste.  I tried again thinking maybe I got it wrong, but sadly no.

This product is not for me, well maybe just the raw chocolate flavour, it seems like it has a natural/greek yoghurt vibe to it - which I was never a fan of, I prefer the sweetened yoghurt - so choosing something as bitter as raw chocolate was definitely the wrong combination for my taste buds!

Natures Store - Tomato and Basil Soup Cup

I find it quite that strange that a lot of soups have gluten in them, I understand why they may have dairy, but gluten?!?

So imagine my surprise when I saw this on the shelf in Asda, in the free from section.

"Perfect" I thought, well as long as they taste good.

They come in four individual foil packets, so very handy to just throw in your bag for times when there are no gluten free options available, at least you know you can always get some hot water!

The directions are pretty self explanatory, however I personally do not measure my water. However much water fits into my cup of choice will be the amount if water that I will use.

Contents of soup packet

Boiled water added

A good stir and one minute later!

The smell is very intense, makes your mouth water in anticipation of the taste.

The taste is flavourful, the combination of tomato and basil is just right, not salty or powdery at all.

It was so moreish! I was already thinking about picking up a few more boxes so that I could ensure I always had a few packs in my bag.

I loved it!

Being Anaemic - In the beginning

The first time I remember having to take iron tablets (ferrous sulphate) was in 2002, I was in my final year of uni and my flat mate was trying to get me out of bed for a lecture, but I didn't have the energy to move.  Eventually she got me to the GP surgery I was sent to the hospital for a blood test, when I went back to the GP a week later he gave me some iron tablets!

That was it, no explanation, no follow up, therefore I had no understanding of the situation.

Over the years I would go to my GP, be sent for blood tests, called with the results to say "your iron levels are a bit low, I will leave you a prescription for some iron tablets".  I remember one GP even said to me "are you sure you're ok?!? You will feel much better after you have taken these". But all the while I never really presented any anaemia symptoms, I had always gone in with some other ailment and ended up having a blood test which resulted in a prescription for iron tablets.

As I felt ok, I never really took the tablets properly and never ever finished a course, so I never felt a difference from taking them (except seeing my stools turn black!)

Yes I always felt tired, but I use to do a lot in a day, I could walk up and down oxford street for hours, go to uni, have a part-time job and party all night. When I got into full time work, more money meant being out more, then I was also studying in the evenings. So if I spent the odd Sunday in bed who could blame me and why would it be a cause for concern.

I wish someone had sat me down and explained what it all meant as maybe I wouldn't be in the situation I am today, however everything happens for a reason and I'm sure there is a very good reason for what I am going through right now.
