Nestlé Gluten Free Corn Flakes - Honey

Was happy to find these Gluten Free Cornflakes on a recent trip to my local Asda, I didn't buy them the first time I saw them but when I did go back for them there was none on the shelf in the Free From section.  I was gutted and immediately thought that I should have bought them when I first saw them.

However my mum said that she had seen them on the end of the cereal aisle, which I thought was odd, however I took a look and found a shelf full of them in the "normal" cereal aisle!  AMAZING!  I suppose that since they are clearly labelled gluten free (you can't miss the huge letters) that it would be ok to place them there however, if you are on a gluten free diet, for whatever reason why would you be looking in the cereal aisle when there is a dedicated free from section elsewhere?!?

They also have the plain Corn Flakes, for those that don't want the added sweetness.

As you can see this clearly Gluten Free and I am glad that a known brand like Nestle has introduced a gluten free product to their range, hopefully they will set the trend for other brands to follow (I know Heniz was the first known brand I had seen with a gluten free range)

I have been eating this every morning now for the past two weeks and I must say that either my bowls are why to big or there is not 16 portions per box as one box lasts 7 days for me, maybe I need smaller bowls.

To be honest, cornflakes should be naturally gluten free any way as they are maize, but clearly cereals are produce in an environment where gluten and wheat are present so your standard box of cornflakes or frosties can not be labelled as gluten free.

All in all, I am happy that I have found this box of cornflakes, at only £2.00 and in the same size box as your standard cereals rather than having to pay £2.50 upwards for a smaller box of any other gluten free cereal.

I hope that this sets the trend for more gluten free products to be packaged in the same quantities and price ranges as standard foods so that they can sit side by side on the shelf.

Step 2
Peel and chop your banana and add to the blender

Step 3
Measure 1/4 cup of granola and add to the blender

You can add 3 or 4 ice cubes and blend to get a thicker and colder smoothie.

The granola is optional, I added this as I was making the smoothie for breakfast, as it makes it more filling.

Good Friday - Bun and Cheese

It's Good Friday today!

Traditionally around Easter in the Carribean tradition we would eat bun and cheese, bun being a type of fruit loaf. But being GF and lactose free I needed my own alternative, so I'm using the Genuis Spicy Fruit Loaf

And Lactofree cheese

My equivalent stands up to my traditions and I don't feel that I am missing out at all.

Thank you Genuis and Lactofree!

Udi's White Rolls

Yet again shopping in my local Asda and the Genuis bread is out of stock!  Then I spotted these, udi's white rolls.

Since I have liked the other udi's products so far I thought I would give this a try in the hope that if I liked it then I would have another alternative for bread.

They are very soft, as described on the packet, but from the look of the roll I thought it would have that just baked chewy kind of crust. Unfortunately not but that being said the roll holds well when cut and has a great bread consistency.

I made a ham and cheese (using lactofree mature cheddar) roll and this was my second roll of the day! I made just a ham roll for lunch that I took to work and enjoyed it so much that I decided on another for dinner!

I would defo buy these rolls again and I am even more tempted now to try their loaf when I can actually find it in store!

Breakfast - lactofree & udi's

I decided on a light breakfast this morning as I want to be able to eat an early dinner and if I have anything to filling now then my stomach will not be able to handle it.

I opted for yoghurt and granola, which is something I use to have on a regular basis before going gf and dairy free, but I have only just found a gf free granola that is also nut free (yes, I am allergic to nuts as well).

I have been using the lactofree range for about a year now and have not had any problems, I am still yet to try their cream and icecream, but their yoghurt and milk have become staples in my diet.

Just the other day I found udi's granola in Asda and was so happy to find, as they call it, a simple granola. No nuts, no fruit, no fuss, although I don't mind granola with raisins!

It tastes great! My only complaint would be that I like my granola when it is clumped up into little ball shaped pieces, which makes it perfect for snacking on. But these are just individual oat grains and it makes it better for a cereal consistency I suppose.

So all I did was just add the granola straight to the yoghurt pot and dug straight in. Quick, simple and easy!
